October is Lewy Body Dementia Awareness Month

October has been designated Lewy Body Dementia Awareness Month. This is the time to raise awareness of a disease that affects an estimated 1.3 million people in the United States alone. LBD is under-recognized, under-diagnosed, and under-treated.

The LBD Association has flyers, posters, and Awareness kits designed for the occasion.

The Langone Medical Center at New York University strongly supports this awareness month. They issued a press release, which notes that they have established a Comprehensive Lewy Body Dementia Center. Their website includes a fact sheet, list of FAQs, and an overview of LBD.
