Journalist Karen Hogan wrote an interesting article in Britain's Daily Mail about her mother's Lewy body disease. Her mother died in 2008, but she wrote the article in January 2012.
Hogan's mother started exhibiting symptoms years before the LBD diagnosis. Even while her memory remained relatively good, she had personality changes, paranoia, delusions, and extreme unsteadiness. It wasn't until a few weeks before her death that she was correctly diagnosed. Hogan asks, "Why could no one see what was wrong sooner? Why aren't healthcare professionals more aware of this debilitating condition?"
She wrote the article with the hope that it will "help raise awareness so that something good comes from my Mum's suffering."
